Scattered rains to prevail in parts of Bicol, VisMin; warm with isolated rain showers elsewhere in PH
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Sunday, July 9 said the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) and easterlies will continue to affect most of the country in the next 24 hours.
Masbate, Sorsogon, Visayas, Northern Mindanao, and Zamboanga Peninsula will experience cloudy skies, scattered rain showers, and thunderstorms due to the prevalence of the ITCZ, a convergence of winds from the northern and southern hemispheres where rain-bearing clouds form, and the easterlies, or warm air from the Pacific Ocean.
PAGASA warned of flash floods or landslides due to some moderate to, at times, heavy rains.
Meanwhile, the rest of the country will continue to experience warm weather due to partly cloudy to cloudy skies brought by easterlies.
PAGASA said isolated rain showers or thunderstorms are still possible, especially in the afternoon or evening.
It warned that severe thunderstorms may cause landslides or flash floods, particularly in high-risk areas.
