Jungkung loaded with P7.1-M smuggled cigarettes intercepted in Zamboanga City

ZAMBOANGA CITY – Some P7.1-million worth of smuggled cigarettes were intercepted in Zamboanga City on Saturday, July 8.
SOME P7.1-million worth of smuggled cigarettes on their way to Pagadian from Sulu were intercepted in Zamboanga City on Saturday, July 8. (2nd ZCMFC photo) The smuggled items, composed of 203 master cases of imported cigarettes with an estimated value of P7,151,200, were loaded in a small motorized boat called jungkung and marked FB Harayana. The boat was on its way to Pagadian City from Sulu province when it was intercepted by the 2nd Zamboanga City Mobile Force Company (2nd ZCMFC) in Barangay Manalipa at around 11:15 p.m. The six crew members of the boat who are from Pata, Sulu failed to present documents that would legalize the transport of the cargo. The crew members and the smuggled items were turned over by the 2nd ZCMFC to the Bureau of Customs for disposition.
