Iloilo City logs 326 dengue cases in 7 months

ILOILO CITY – This city logged 326 dengue cases with three fatalities from January 1 to July 4, a 54 percent increase compared to the same period in 2022.

The Iloilo City Health Office also recorded clusters of dengue cases in three districts here.

In Jaro District, clustering of cases was noted in Barangays Camalig, Lanit, and Tabuc Suba; in Arevalo District, Barangays Calaparan, Santo Niño Norte, and Santa Filomena; and Barangay Calumpang in Molo District.

The ICHO said that most of those infected with dengue were children aged one to 10.

With the rise in dengue cases, the ICHO is beefing up the campaign to clean surroundings and destroy breeding grounds for mosquitoes.

“We are continuing to conduct dengue monitoring, misting operations, and distribution of larvicides to barangays to control the spread and dangers of dengue," said ICHO Medical Officer Dr. Roland Jay Fortuna.
