"Deadly Love" - a six-part limited series about an unsolved disappearance and mysterious happenings in a small town - streams on Viva One starting tomorrow (July 10). It is directed by award-winning filmmaker Derick Cabrido and stars Louise de los Reyes, Marco Gumabao, McCoy de Leon, and Jaclyn Jose.

Derick said he collaborated with scriptwriter Enrico Santos for the plot. "There is a new genre in the US which is mystery-murder. That's when we thought about doing a series about serial killers. We talked about it and pitched it to Viva. I'm a fan of horror so I enjoy making works like this."

The director noted that even while writing the script, they already had the actors in mind who would play the challenging roles in "Deadly Love."

"For me, importante na nagsusulat ka pa lang sa simula, alam mo na kung sino ang ika-cast para ma-feel mo yung character at maipasok mo yung personality ng character," Derick pointed out.

(For me, it's important that you already know who to cast at the start so that you can feel the character and include the personality of the character in the script.)

Louise said she plays the role of Tessa, a young woman who lives in a small town and has dreams of her own but is shielded by her protective parents - Marga (Jaclyn Jose) and Julio (Raffy Tejada). Louise revealed: " Something unusual happens and Tessa doesn't know who to trust anymore."

Marco portrays Amir, Tessa's sweetheart who disappears one day, and his case is investigated by Benjo (McCoy), a policeman who also becomes attracted to Tessa.

The precarious twists in the movie made the cast reminisce about the times when they were faced with "deadly love" during the mediacon of the series at Botejyu Gateway Mall in Quezon City.

Louise said: "I've had an age-gap relationship where my older partner was super controlling and I felt suffocated."

"Darating ka sa point na gusto mo ng mamatay pero masyadong mahal ko ang buhay ko at career ko. Naka-recover naman ako," she bared.

(I reached a point where I already wanted to die. It was a good thing I treasured my life and career more. I was able to recover.)

Marco intimated: "Meron akong past relationship na umabot na sa weird ang ina-ask from me. Maybe it stemmed from a lack of trust."

"Love shouldn't be dangerous. When you love, you should be in a safe place. You should know when and where to cross the line. When your life is in danger, know when to let go," Marco added.

McCoy De Leon plays the role of a police investigator in the series

Being the senior member of the cast, Jaclyn recalled that yes, she did have a "very scary" chapter in her life which closely resembled "deadly love."

"Fortunately, it's all gone now and I have recovered. If you have a bad feeling at the start about your partner, that's it. Trust your intuition and get out as soon as possible, no matter how in love you are," she advised.

"Or sige, mag baliw-baliwan ka. Ibuhos mo muna sa kanya ang pag-ibig a yan pero paghandaan mo na ang panahon kung kelan ka aalis," she added.
