Ranking congressmen have coordinated with Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Rex Gatchalian for the conduct of an assistance to individuals in crisis situations (AICS) distribution to victims of a recent fire in Cotabato City. Facilitating the release of AICS were the office of Speaker Martin Romualdez and Tingog Party-list Reps. Yedda Marie Romualdez and Jude Acidre. AICS entails the distribution of cash aid. Last July 5, at 2:30 p.m., a fire broke out in Purok Tadman, Poblacion 7, Cotabato City that left some 200 families homeless. As initial response, Tingog Party-list Cotabato brought to the evacuation center in Datu Siang Elementary School at past 9 p.m. that same night a total of 250 hot meals and 80 gallons of purified water. Tingog learned that this was the victims' first meal following the fire. Speaker Romualdez, Leyte's 1st district representative, is eyeing the distribution of relief goods to the fire victims this Tuesday. The AICS distribution will take place possibly Wednesday. Rep. Romualdez, wife of Speaker Romualdez, chairs the House Committee on Accounts. Acidre, on the other hand, is a deputy majority leader.
