Scattered rain showers to affect parts of Visayas, Mindanao
The intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) and the easterlies will be the dominant weather systems that may bring rain showers over parts of the country this weekend, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Saturday, July 8.
ITCZ is the convergence of winds from the northern and southern hemispheres where rain-bearing clouds form, while easterly winds are the warm, humid air from the Pacific Ocean.
Scattered rain showers and thunderstorms may affect Eastern Samar, Southern Leyte, Soccsksargen, Caraga, and Davao Region.
PAGASA warned of flash floods or landslides due to moderate to, at times, heavy rains.
Meanwhile, the rest of the country will continue to experience warm weather due to partly cloudy to cloudy skies, with a chance of isolated rain showers or thunderstorms, mostly in the afternoon or evening.
PAGASA also warned that severe thunderstorms may cause landslides or flash floods, especially in vulnerable areas.
