As the owner of more than 50 tube ice-making plants across the country under the brand 'Mr. Freeze,' businessman Gerry Santos could just have chosen to sit on his fortunes and maintain a low profile. But he prefers to be visible because this is the only way to preach the gospel of entrepreneurship. He said providing employment to others is essential to nation-building.

"Kaming mga negosyante, gusto talaga namin nagtuturo sa tao na mag-negosyo para maraming tao ang mabigyan ng trabaho," he pointed out.

(We, businessmen, really like teaching others how to do business so that a lot of people are hired for jobs.)

Gerry is the face of "Negosyo Goals" on ALLTV which features successful and aspiring entrepreneurs. Sometimes, he also hosts special functions like the recent contract signing of JOMOO Philippines with Puerto De San Juan Beach Residences and Mariposa Mews at the Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila.

In an interview after the JOMOO event organized in collaboration with Max-i-mum Business Consultancy Services, Gerry stated that he accepts hosting stints because it enables him to stay on the loop of things. He is also able to network with people outside the confines of his industry.

"There are lots of hosts but a host who is a true-blue entrepreneur is rare. I have sufficient background in business so I can really walk the talk," he noted.

Gerry's close friend, celebrity mom Isabelle Daza, agrees. " Gerry is a natural comedian. Kapag nasa kanya na ang microphone, he can really make the crowd laugh. That's why he fits in front of the camera," she observed.

"By nature, I'm really talkative and I like talking to people," the multi-awarded businessman added.

Most of Gerry's friends are from showbiz and they met through their common love for cars. He considers actor Derek Ramsay as his BFF. The celebrities he's close to, he has also turned into business partners for his Mr. Freeze business. These include senior actor Albert Martinez, Pasig Vice Mayor Robert Jaworski Jr., Mikee Cojuangco and of course, Isabelle and Derek with wife Ellen Adarna.

Gerry was influenced by his father who was also in the ice business as a distributor. After working for the family firm for 15 years, Gerry left his life as an employee to later on put up his own tube ice manufacturing plant with the help of a bank loan. It was a risky move but Gerry thought to himself: "no guts, no glory."

After gaining success years later, it has always been Gerry's credo to give back. On special occasions, he rallies his celebrity friends to contribute to fund-raisers. On the "Negosyo Goals" show, they also give out livelihood packages to deserving small business owners.
