Five individuals, two of whom were fire volunteers, were reportedly injured during a fire incident that displaced around 300 families in Parañaque City on Saturday afternoon, July 8. Parañaque City Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Fire Marshal Supt. Eduardo A. Loon said the victims were identified as Alfie Legaspi, 37, and Justin Ray Drapon, 16, both fire volunteers; Elmer Almodin, 58, Jenny M. La Torre, 18, and Ricardo Docinbac, 40. Legaspi, Almodin, and La Torre were treated for breathing difficulties, while Drapon and Docinbac sustained lacerations on their left arms. Juan Carlo De Vela / MANILA BULLETIN
The BFP said the fire started at around 3:10 p.m. at the second floor of the house being occupied by Mylene Antipuesto, located at Lorenzana Compound, San de Coastal, Barangay San Dionisio. According to Col. Renato Ocampo, city police chief, members of the San Dioniso Substation immediately responded to give area security and assist the firefighters.  The fire reached the fourth alarm and was placed under control at 5:32 p.m. It was declared fire out at 5:55 p.m. The BFP said 480 individuals or around 300 families were affected by the fire. More or less 150 houses were burned in the incident, with the damages costing around P750,000. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the BFP.
