Terror group member nabbed in GenSan

GENERAL SANTOS CITY – Police arrested an alleged member of the Ansar Al-Khilafah terror group here on Wednesday, July 5. Police Col. Jomar Alexis Yap, city police director, identified the suspect as Wahab Binago Tacbil from Palimbang, Sultan Kudarat. Tacbil was arrested in his safehouse in Purok Maunlad, Barangay Apopong. The suspect, who is facing a string of murder cases in Sarangani, Sultan Kudarat, and South Cotabato, was said to be one of the key lieutenants of Jaafar Maguid, alias “Commander Tokboy.” Maguid was tagged as the leader of the Islamic State-inspired Ansar Al-Khilafah terror group operating in Sarangani and South Cotabato. “The suspect had gone into hiding for the past years until he was monitored in the city,” Yap said. Maguid was killed in a shootout with security forces in Kiamba, Sarangani in 2017. The local terror group was tagged in bomb attacks in General Santos City, Sarangani, and South Cotabato in the past years.
