PRO-1 named Best Regional Police Human Rights Desk of the Year
CAMP FLORENDO, La Union – The Police Regional Office-1 (Ilocos) headed by Police Brig. Gen. John C. Chua was cited as the Best Regional Police Human Rights Desk of the Year during the 16th founding anniversary of the Philippine National Police-Human Rights Affairs Office (PNP-HRAO) in Camp Crame, Quezon City, on Monday, July 3.
Recipients of the award were Police Lt. Col. Winnie S. de Vera, Best Human Rights Officer of the Year; Ilocos Norte Police Provincial Office led by Police Col. Julius C. Suriben, Police Provincial Office Human Rights Desk of the Year, and Urdaneta City Police Station led by Police Lt. Col. Lawrence Keith D. Calub, City Police Station Human Rights Desk of the Year.
Chua was elated over the citations and said that PRO-1 has consistently demonstrated an unwavering commitment to ensuring human rights protection in the region.
“The PRO-1 team's dedication to safeguarding the rights and welfare of individuals under its jurisdiction exemplifies its professionalism and commitment to maintaining a harmonious relationship between the police and the public,” said Chua.
Chua said De Vera, the Ilocos Norte Police Provincial Office, and the Urdaneta City Police Station have exhibited exemplary leadership and remarkable dedication in the field of human rights.
“They had been instrumental in implementing programs that prioritize the protection and promotion of human rights principles. With an empathetic and inclusive approach, they have fostered an environment that encourages open dialogue, cooperation, and mutual respect, thereby strengthening the relationship between the police and the community,” said Chua.
“This recognition of PRO 1’s unshakable resolute to human rights reinforces its continued efforts to uphold the highest standards of law enforcement and community engagement,” he added.
