Hagonoy school grads create mural as gift to school they considered 'home'
Members of Batch 2000-2001 of Tampok Elementary School (TES) in Hagonoy, Bulacan paid it forward to the school they considered their "second home" by creating a beautiful mural as a backdrop for the school's stage.
EYE CATCHING STAGE -- The newly painted stage of the Tampok Elementary School in Hagonoy, Bulacan, which features nature and a quote from Dr. Jose P. Rizal, was a project of Batch 2000-2001 headed by its president, Patrick Mangahas and Vice president October Sumulong, to honor their "second home." (Photo courtesy of Marcel Bayan)
The alumni were all smiles after they finished their project and fulfilled their dream -- a mural painting project on the school's stage on Wednesday, July 5. Carrying Dr. Jose Rizal's quotation “Ang hindi marunong lumingon sa pinanggalingan ay hindi makararating sa pinaroroonan” (He who does not know where he came from, will never reach his destination), Batch 2000-2001 TES graduates, headed by its president Patrick Mangahas, and Vice president October Sumulong, said the mural project is their contribution to their beloved Alma Mater. They said the project was started in June and was made possible through the contributions of their batchmates that totaled P16,000. "Ang entablado na yan ay maraming magaganda at matamis na alaala sa amin kasama ang magandang pagtuturo ng aming mga teachers noon," (That stage has lot of good and sweet memories for us including the good teaching of our teachers)," they added. Teachers, headed by school principal Ma. Effie R. Santos and Mirriam Salalac, who was the adviser of Batch 2000-2001, thanked the group for the mural and for giving back to their "second home."
