According to the letter from the DILG-NCR sent to Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto and Pasig PESO Manager Jelene Sison-Lopez dated July 3, the Pasig PESO won against six other PESOs in the NCR under the "highly urbanized category." Pasig PESO scored 99/100 points, the highest among the nominees. "We commend PESO Pasig for its valuable contributions in attaining the overall thrust and mandate of the PESO to nation building by providing full, decent, and productive employment at the local level," read the letter. Pasig PESO will be the NCR's representative in the National Search for the Best PESO at this year's PESO Congress. It will be held from Oct. 25 to 27 at Pawing, Palo, Leyte. Councilor Simon Romulo Tantoco, who sits as the chairperson of the Committee on Labor, Employment, and Manpower Development, along with the Committee on Trade, Commerce, and Industry, expressed his congratulations to the PESO, Manager Lopez, and officials from the executive body of the local government for their support to the programs of the department. Pasig PESO is an active office of the city government that facilitates employment programs such as the Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES), the Government Internship Program (GIP), the Tulong Panghanap Buhay Para sa ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD). It also regularly hosts local recruitment activities in partnership with local companies, as well as organizes [mega] job fairs within the city, frequently collaborating with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE). PESO is also a major member of the newly-established Tripartite Industrial Peace Council (TIPC) that bridges the communication between stakeholders in the labor, employer, and government sectors in Pasig.
