CEBU CITY – A 41-year-old dentist was severely injured after he was attacked by two men inside his clinic in Barangay Kamputhaw here on Wednesday afternoon, July 5.
Police said the eyes of Dr. Charles Sia were punctured by the perpetrators who broke into his clinic around 3 p.m.
Police Capt. Mark Don Leanza, chief of the Abellana Police Station, said the perpetrators pretended to be delivery boys when they arrived in the victim’s clinic on Queens Road.
Leanza said the doctor’s secretary attended to the men who then proceeded inside the clinic.
The victim was attending to a patient when the two men barged in.

Once inside the clinic, the two men suddenly handcuffed the doctor and struck him with a gun. The blow rendered the doctor unconscious. When the doctor passed out, one of the perpetrators punctured the victim’s eyes. It was not immediately known what was used to puncture the victim’s eyes, police said. Personal grudges could be the motive of the attack, police said. “Ang sinabi lang ng suspect ‘dako kaayo ka og atraso sa akoa,’ Leanza said. Emergency responders from the Emergency Rescue Unit Foundation rushed the victim to a hospital in Mandaue City. Police said the perpetrators escaped aboard a motorcycle. Police Col. Ireneo Dalogdog, chief of the Cebu City Police Office, has ordered a thorough investigation. The Intelligence Division of the Police Regional Office-Central Visayas will also help in the investigation. “We are thankful to the Regional Intelligence Division for helping us in our investigation to identify the perpetrators,” Dalgodog said.
