ZAMBOANGA CITY – A policeman assigned to the Kabasalan Municipal Police Station was shot dead by riding in tandem assailants in Barangay Poblacion, Kabasalan municipality, Zamboanga Sibugay on Wednesday, July 5.

Report by Kabasalan municipal police identified the fatality as Police Chief Master Sgt. Ronald Sumamban who was shot at close range by the suspects.
Sumamban, who was tailed by tandem suspects, died on the spot.
The Zamboanga Sibugay Provincial Police Office conducted checkpoints in the area for the possible arrest of the suspects.
Police are investigating the motive behind the killing.
