A weather specialist of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Wednesday, July 5 that the country may remain tropical cyclone-free in the next few days.
According to PAGASA weather specialist Obet Badrina, there is a slim chance that a tropical cyclone may enter of form with the country’s area of responsibility until the end of the week.
Based on PAGASA’s climatological record, the country may have two to four tropical cyclones in July.
The names of the next tropical cyclones on PAGASA’s list are Dodong, Egay, Falcon, and Goring.
In the next 24 hours, Badrina said that partly to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms may prevail throughout the country due to the easterlies.
Easterly winds are warm and humid air from the Pacific Ocean.
PAGASA warned that severe thunderstorms, which are accompanied by heavy but brief rains, lightning, thunder, wind gusts, and sometimes hail, may cause landslides or flash floods, especially in vulnerable areas.
