PCUP leads stakeholder conference to protect rights of poor, homeless families
The Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor-Field Operations Division for the National Capital Region (PCUP-FODNCR) conducted a two-day stakeholders conference on just, humane demolition, and eviction to promote and protect the rights of poor and homeless families.

PCUP on Wednesday, July 5 said the conference was conducted to establish a consultative mechanism to fulfill its mandate under Executive Orders No. 82 and 69, which coordinates the speedy implementation of government policies and programs for the urban poor. It also aims to observe a fair and humane demolition involving poor and homeless families based on administrative grounds and court orders. In accordance with the 2013 Urban Development and Housing Act (UDHA) Guidelines on Requesting Police Assistance in Demolition or Eviction Activities, the PCUP has been tasked to lead and supervise Pre-Demolition Conferences (PDC). The event was led by PCUP-FODNCR Chief of Operations Olympia DC. Micro, together with other agencies including the Office of the Court Administrator Assistant Court Administrator Hon. Lilian C. Barribal-Co, and Philippine National Police. Moreover, PCUP Undersecretary Elpidio R. Jordan, Jr. expressed appreciation for the efforts made by those involved in the activity to ensure a fair and peaceful demolition and relocation in order to preserve the rights of underprivileged Filipinos. *(Rhowen Del Rosario)*
