BACOLOD CITY – The man found dead beside a sugarcane field in Barangay Tortosa, Manapla, Negros Occidental on July 1 has been identified.
Police Major Jaynick Bermudez, Manapla police chief, said the victim was identified by his live-in partner as Reynald Quiatchon, 30, of Barangay Taculing here.
Quiatchon was found beside a sugarcane field a bullet wound in the head. His hands were tied and his mouth was sealed with a packing tape.
Police recovered from the crime scene two fired .45 caliber bullets and a placard with the statement “Wag Tularan, Kawatan Ako” (Don’t follow, I am a thief).
However, despite the identification of the victim, Bermudez said they have difficulty establishing a lead since they have yet to talk to the victim’s family.
Bermudez said they received information that the victim was allegedly involved in a theft case here but he said they will conduct their own investigation.
He said the victim was subjected to a postmortem examination.
