4 drug suspects yield P850,000 'shabu' in Intramuros

Four drug suspects were arrested for possession of over P850,000 worth of alleged shabu during a buy-bust operation in Intramuros, Manila on Wednesday, July 5.

The Manila Police District (MPD) Ermita Police Station (PS-5) identified the suspects as Victorino San Joaquin, 54, a resident of Barangay 704, Malate, Manila; Alvin Santos, 36, Jenelyn Mendoza, 43, and Tha Lumabao, 40, all residents of Barangay 384, Quiapo, Manila.

The PS-5 Station Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU) said it sought assistance from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) to conduct the buy-bust operation.

The drug sting was conducted at around 12:15 a.m. on Wednesday along A. Soriano Street near the corner of Bonifacio Drive, Barangay 655, Intramuros, Manila.

Police said a poseur buyer was able to buy a small plastic sachet containing crystal meth or “shabu” from the suspects which led to their immediate arrest.

Seized from them were 125 grams of suspected shabu.

The arrested suspects are facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
