CAMP DANGWA, Benguet -- As a result of the increased police presence, sixty-nine municipalities in various provinces of the region and seven police stations in Baguio City remain peaceful as the Police Regional Office-Cordillera recorded zero crime incidents from June 25 to July 1.
The province of Abra, known to be a turbulent province in the Cordillera especially during elections, has changed a lot due to the intensified peace and order campaign of the Abra Provincial Police Office.
Zero crime incidents were recorded in all but one of 27 municipalities in Abra; six of the seven municipalities in Apayao; ten of 13 municipalities in Benguet; nine of the ten municipalities in Mountain Province and seven municipalities of Kalinga.
In the city of Baguio, Naguilian Police Station (PS) 1, Pacdal PS3, Loakan PS4, Legarda PS5, Aurora Hill PS6, Irisan PS9, and
Marcos Highway PS10 also recorded zero crime incidents from the 10 police stations in the city.
Cordillera regional director Brig. David Peredo Jr. noted the remarkable improvement in peace and order situation in Abra, especially the past local and national elections.
"Now that the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan election is approaching, I have alerted the police in Abra to be vigilant and watch over everyone's security for a peaceful and clean election," said Peredo.
PRO-COR also reported that 17 wanted persons hiding from the law were caught in the manhunt operation during the period.
Based on the records of the Regional Investigation and Detective Management Division (RIDMD), the Baguio City Police Office (CPO) recorded the highest number of arrests with ten wanted persons, followed by the Benguet Police Provincial Office (CPO) with five arrests and Kalinga PPO and Mountain Province PPO with one arrest each.
