QCPD probes sexual assault in UP Diliman - police chief
Quezon City Police District (QCPD) director Brig. Gen. Nicolas Torre III said on Tuesday, July 4, that he ordered an in-depth investigation on the alleged sexual assault incident that occurred at the University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman campus last Saturday, July 1.
The QCPD said the incident happened at around 10:50 p.m. at a vacant lot of the campus' baseball/softball field on Yllanan St. in UP Diliman, where a 5th year female student was reportedly sexually attacked by an unidentified man who was armed with a bladed weapon.
The victim sought help from the UP Diliman Police (UPDP). She was brought to the Crime Laboratory at Camp Crame.
The UPDP was advised to turn over the case to the QCPD Anonas Station (PS 9).
Police said that the victim failed to identify the suspect.
The police director and the PS 9, together with UPDP officers, went to the area for an ocular inspection and walkthrough.
The PS 9 and the UPDP also launched a follow-up operation to the identify the suspect.
QCPD said they will check and evaluate five closed-circuit television footage that they have gathered.
Authorities are conducting an investigation at a construction site near the area of the incident, police said.
