Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan led the lighting ceremony for the 29 newly-installed lamp posts on Yuseco Street, Manila, on Tuesday, July 4. The city government said the inauguration of the 26-feet lamp posts was part of its initiatives to provide safety in the streets and to help barangay officials monitor and protect the city's projects against vandals and thieves. Lacuna also asked the residents to help them by reporting incidents of misdeeds to the proper authorities for swift action. The Yuseco street lighting from Rizal Avenue to Jose Abad Santos Avenue covered a total of eight barangays in the city's second and third districts. It is already the third phase of the city government's lighting program. The first phase covered Lacson Avenue to Espana Boulevard while the second was in Fugoso Street. The city mayor was accompanied by Manila Vice Mayor John Marvin "Yul Servo" Nieto, Third District Congressman Joel Chua, and city councilors. Lacuna-Pangan thanked the Manila City Council headed by Nieto for working on the immediate approval of funds that are needed to implement the programs and projects of her administration. She assured the residents that the city government will continue the lighting program until the entire city is lit up. "Umasa kayo na sa abot ng makakaya ng inyong pamahalaan ay magpapatuloy ang ganitong mga simple pero makabuluhang proyekto para masiguro ang inyong proteksyon lalo na sa araw-araw nyong pamumuhay (I assure you that to the best of the government's ability, these simple but meaningful projects will continue in order to ensure your protection as you pursue your daily life," Lacuna said.
