Elderly man drowns in Quezon

CALAUAG, Quezon -- An elderly man drowned while catching fish (pangingilaw) at the seaside in Barangay Talingting in this town, a report said on Monday, July 3. The Calauang Police report identified the victim as Virgilio Caneta, 60, a resident of the said place. According to the report, the incident took place on June 30 between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. at the seaside of the said barangay. The incident was reported by Chona Basabe, the victim’s cousin, and Delton Dulay, a fisherman, to police on July 3. The report said Dulay saw the victim floating at the seaside. The victim’s body was retrieved and examined by Dr. Katherine Ruby and no foul play was found.
