Police said they have a person of interest in the killing of a caregiver whose body was found inside a plastic drum at her employers' house in Cainta, Rizal, Monday afternoon.
Police said the body of Maribel Bacsal, 42, was found stuffed inside a blue plastic container inside the compound of an elderly couple on Monday in Brookside Subdivision, Cainta.
Cainta police chief Major Alfonso Saligumba said Bacsal was last seen alive on Thursday before she reported for work as a caregiver of the two elderly couple.
The death of the victim was discovered after her aunt went to the residence of her employers to serve as her reliever on Sunday morning.
Police said the aunt asked her employers on her whereabouts of the victim but one of them said she did not report for work that Sunday.
The aunt said she found the clothes of the victim inside the couple’s house, prompting her to seek police assistance which led to the discovery of the victim’s cadaver.
Saligumba said the police have a person of interest on the case, but they refused to reveal the identity of the person pending the result of the ongoing investigation.
Police said the victim’s male employer is bedridden.
Messages of condolences have poured in since the victim's death was posted by her sister on social media.
