Maj. Gen. Gabriel Viray III, AFP deputy chief of staff for civil-military operations, met with the delegates of the ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting Plus Experts’ Working Group (ADMM-Plus EWG) on Military Medicine on Monday, July 3, at Camp Aguinaldo in Quezon City for the final site survey of the project.

The medical facility will be built under the Project-Based Community Medical Deployment (PCMD) Medical Aid Provision (MAP) “which endeavors to achieve One ASEAN, One Response in addressing challenges in the region.”

“As you finalize the assessment of identified locations in General Tinio, Nueva Ecija, to ensure the suitability and alignment to the objectives of PCMD and of the projects and activities you are planning for, let us bear in mind our common objective of building capacity and resiliency in the communities,” Viray said on Tuesday, July 4.

Other details of the project have yet to be disclosed by the AFP.

The ADMM-Plus is an ASEAN platform for its partner countries, called “plus countries,” to strengthen security and defense cooperation for peace, stability, and development.

It aims to achieve a faster response, mobilize greater resources, and establish stronger coordination to ensure ASEAN’s collective response to disasters.

A multilateral site survey of health and medical facilities was conducted in November last year where the AFP and ADMM-Plus EWG worked closely with the local government units in Nueva Ecija in preparation for the implementation of the project.

“I would like to congratulate the team, the Co-Chairs, Brunei, and Australia for all their efforts in making sure PCMD MAP will be a success; our partners, Singapore, Thailand, Cambodia, and China, for showing their commitment by joining the site survey today; and all the other countries of ADMM Plus who in one way or the other have committed to support this project,” Viray said.
