NPA political officer surrenders in Agusan del Norte

BUTUAN CITY – A political officer of the New People’s Army (NPA) surrendered to the police in Nasipit, Agusan del Norte on Friday, July 28.

The Police Regional Office 13-Regional Operations Division (PRO 13-ROD) said “Ka Randy,” also known as “Ka Andre,” turned over a Smith & Wesson caliber .38 with bullets.

Ka Randy, whose surrender was a result of the concerted efforts of the Nasipit Municipal Police Station (MPS), served as a political guide of the Sandatahang Yunit Pampropaganda (SYP) of the Dismantled Guerilla Front 4-A of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP)-NPA North Central Mindanao Regional Committee (NCMRC), the PRO 13-ROD said.

Meanwhile, a NPA rebel surrendered to authorities on Saturday, July 29.

The surrenderer, “Ka Pigok," 44, of the SYP DGF-4A, NCMRC, turned himself in to the 1st Agusan del Norte Provincial Mobile Force Company.

The two rebel returnees are now in police custody for further debriefing and enrollment to the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration program.

PRO-13 Director Police Brig. Gen. Kirby John B. Kraft welcomed the surrenderers.

“Starvation, exhaustion, and the failure to receive the promised compensation were the reasons of his abandonment in the underground movement,” he said.

“With the deceptive schemes of the CTG, many lives have been ruined; but through our series of negotiations, more of their members have laid down arms and left the armed struggle.”

“We encourage our brothers and sisters in the CTG, to lay down arms and live in peace together with their family,” Kraft added.
