Hagonoy, Bulacan placed under calamity state due to flooding

Another town in the province of Bulacan was placed under a state of calamity due to flooding caused by Egay-enhanced southwest monsoon rains and high tide.

On Saturday, July 29, the municipality of Calumpit was also been placed under a state of calamity after 29 barangays were inundated in flood waters.

On Sunday, July 30, the Sangguniang Bayan of Hagonoy passed resolution No. 2023-87 placing the entire municipality of Hagonoy under a state of calamity due to the damaging effects of the flood on agriculture, livelihood, and infrastructure.

The resolution was proposed by Vice Mayor Charo Sy-Alvarado Mendoza, presiding officer; Councilors Raulito C. Manlapaz Jr., Maria Cristina G. Perez, Elmer R. Santos, Dalisay Ople-San Jose, Christopher R. Baluyot, Michael Darwin M. Cruz, Lamberto T. Villanueva, ABC Chairman Jhane E. Dela Cruz, and SK President Carlo DJ. Cudia.

The declaration was signed by Mayor Baby Manlapaz, Vice Mayor  Sy-Alvarado Mendoza, and secretary to the Sangguniang Bayan.
Aside from the distribution of food packs and medicines to flood victims, Mayor Manlapaz, Vice Mayor Sy-Alvarado, and the town's councilors also distributed water buckets to thousands of flood victims.  

Meanwhile, memorandum DRF-07302023-358  was released and signed by Governor DanieL R. Fernando on the suspension of work and classes, both in public and private, on Monday, July 31.

The suspension was based on the recommendation of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) to safeguard the health and safety of Bulakenyos.

As of  6 a.m., the water level of Angat Dam was at 195.05 meters (normal high water level is 210 meters); Ipo Dam was at 101.10 meters (normal high water level is 101 meters), and Bustos Dam was at 16.21 meters (17.36  meters).
