DSWD fetes 5 LGUs in Western Visayas

ILOILO CITY â€“ The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) awarded five local government units (LGUs) in Western Visayas for their efficient mechanisms in delivering social services. DSWD-6 Director Carmelo Nochete led the awarding during the Pagdayaw 2023: A Night of Recognition for Exemplary Performance of Local Social Welfare Development Office here. Three of the five LGUs are from Negros Occidental â€“ Negros Occidental Provincial Social Welfare Office, the Bago City Social Welfare Office, and the Victorias City Social Welfare Office. Two of them are from LGUs in Iloilo province, the Iloilo Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office and the Anilao Municipal Social Welfare Office. Nochete said that these LGUs achieved the Level III accreditation of the DSWD-6 Service Delivery Capacity Assessment (SDCA). Since the 1990s when the Local Government Code devolved social services to LGUs, DSWD has been pushing to sustain the functionality and efficiency in the delivery of social services especially to those who are in need of assistance.
