Hope springs eternal for actor Dennis Padilla.

His relationship with his three children Julia, Claudia, and Leon Barretto may not be smooth and they rarely see one another, but Dennis remains optimistic that everything will eventually be fine.

During a media conference for the upcoming romantic-comedy film "Magic Hurts" under RemsFilms Productions in Quezon City recently, Dennis said that he has been reaching out to his children for nine years but to no avail. Dennis and Marjorie Barretto got married in 1995. However, Dennis and Marjorie split. Their marriage was annulled in 2009.

"I'm still waiting for that magic. Minsan talaga lumalalim yung pagmamahal pag nanggaling kayo sa sakit di ba? Sana soon. I'm not getting any younger. I've been reaching out for a long time matagal na. Almost nine years na. Sana sila naman," Dennis said.

(I'm still waiting for that magic. Sometimes love really deepens when you come out of pain, right? Hopefully soon. I'm not getting any younger. I've been reaching out for a long time. Almost nine years already. I hope they reach out to me.)

He added: "Kapag may hurt, may healing. Doon pumapasok yung magic. Galing sa pagmamahal yun."

(When there's hurt, there's healing. That's where the magic comes in. It comes from love.)

(It's like you're learning to live with the hurt. I'm getting used to it. It's still healing.)

(I don't know if I've been forgiven, but I've forgiven them for a long time. I'm not the one who should be forgiven because I'm the one who made a lot of mistakes.)

"Ang importante nagawa mo yung dapat mong sabihin at naparating mo yung message mo. Ang importante andun yung magic ng pagmamahal," the comedian also said.

(The important thing is that you did what you had to say and you got your message across. The important thing is that there is the magic of love.)

Dennis, 61, also recalled something magical that happened between the late actor Rico Yan and his girlfriend Claudine Barretto.

"One time I texted Claudine, Sabi ko, 'alam mo Claudine, kung bakit tayo nasasaktan, kasi mahal natin sila. Kapag mahal mo, nasasaktan ka.

(One time I texted Claudine, I said, 'You know, Claudine, why we get hurt, because we love them. When you love, you get hurt.)

"Kaya nga noong naririnig ko yung kantang 'Got To Believe in Magic' I was there at the height of Rico Yan and Claudine Barretto loveteam.

(I said, 'Claudine, I remember when Rico came to me. He said, 'Brother, maybe I can talk to Claudine?' I said, 'You can't talk, not now. He said, okay, brother, help me. I said go ahead and buy a beer first. So we drank and he slowly told me what happened. So the next day, I talked to Claudine and explained to her what Rico told me. They finally reunited. So when I heard the song 'Got To Believe In Magic,' it seemed like I had magic during that moment.)

Suddenly, magic

Young stars Beaver Magtalas, Mutya Orquia, and Maxine Trinidad revealed their favorite stars during the same media con.

"When it comes to acting, I really love Kuya Joshua Garcia. Siya talaga ang idol ko and I want to be an actor like him. But of course, I want to make a name on my own," said Beaver.

"I really love Kathryn Bernardo and Sylvia Sanchez.

I remember isa sa mga movies na nag-paiyak sa akin is The Hows of Us. Sobrang nadala ako sa scene na yun. She's really one of my inspirations to be an actress."

Beaver, Mutya, and Maxine also shared their opinions about magic.

It's like love. You cannot just fall in love unless you know the personality of the person. In that way, magic will happen," said Mutya.

Beaver said: "Magic is very deep. We cannot see it and magic is parang love or tadhana. Gusto ko po siyang paniwalaan and so as much as possible naniniwala po ako."

Ang love for me ay may kakaibang magic. Giving someone a second chance is also magic. You just got to believe in magic," added Mutya.

"Magic Hurts" is directed by Gabby Ramos. He wrote the screenplay with Jerome Baguio.
