Starting on Tuesday, August 1, all clients of the Manila Economic and Cultural Office (MECO) will no longer need to set an appointment to avail of its services, including other local agency services.
MECO chairman Silvestre Bello III said said the removal of the appointment system covefs Filipinos, Taiwanese employers, investors, and tourists who will come to its offices in Taipei, Taichung, and Kaohsiung.
Other local government agencies like the Department of Migrant Workers Social Security System (SSS) will also remove the appointment system.
“MECO aims to enhance the accessibility of our services and serve the public in the best manner possible,” said Bello.
He, however, said that passport renewal and notarial requests will remain under the appointment system.
Bello said that when it comes to notarial services. MECO requires enough time to prepare the notarized papers, which is why it is required to schedule an appointment.
This service includes affidavits, powers of attorney, and reports of Filipinos' marriages, births, and deaths in Taiwan. (Nicole Magmanlac)
