TABUK CITY, Kalinga – President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. turned over P5 million in financial assistance to typhoon Egay-hit Kalinga province through Gov. James Edduba during a visit to Tuguegarao City, Cagayan on Saturday, July 29.

Imee Marcos. PBBM also gave financial assistance to municipalities affected by the tropical cyclone in Cagayan and provinces in the Cordillera Administrative Region. Edduba said the money will be used to address the immediate needs of affected families in the province. During a meeting with Marcos, Edduba presented the actual situation of the province after the onslaught of the typhoon. He told the President that Kalinga had no casualties from Egay but the province sustained damage to property and agriculture. Kalinga reported 3,939 affected individuals from 801 families from six municipalities and a city. Three houses in Lubuagan were totally damaged houses and 104 were partially damaged in different municipalities. Two schools from Tinglayan and Tanudan were partially damaged. The lower and upper districts of Kalinga reported P322,745,564 initial damage infrastructure such as slope protection, farm-to-market roads, national roads, footbridge, and flood control drainage. Agriculture was the most affected sector in the province. Rice sustained P27,053,262 damage; P32,531,376 corn and P4,475,940 high-value crops.
