Angeline Colonia continued to show promise after bagging three gold medals in the 2023 Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championships in New Delhi, India on Saturday, July 29.

The 16-year-old Zamboanga native topped the youth women’s 45kg division with a total lift of 152 kilograms following a golden performance of 70 kilos in snatch and a silver feat of 82 kilos in clean and jerk.

The 2023 Southeast Asian Games silver medalist, who just learned the sport at the start of the pandemic, claimed her third gold in the junior women’s 45kg snatch event with a lift of 70 kilos.

She also settled for the bronze in the junior total event after lifting 152 kilos.

Rose Jean Ramos also made an impact in the women’s junior 45kg division with one gold and two silver medals.

Ramos, who pocketed three silver medals at the Asian Weightlifting Championships in Jinju, South Korea last May, ruled the said weight class with a total lift of 157 kilos after registering silver-medal performances of 70 kilos in snatch and 87 kilos in clean and jerk.

So far, the Philippines has collected eight gold, six silver and three bronze medals so far after earlier triumphs from Alexsandra Ann Diaz, Prince Keil Delos Santos and Eron Borres on Friday, July 28.

Scheduled to compete in the coming days in the youth division are two-time SEAG gold medalist Vanessa Sarno (women’s 71kg), Rosegie Ramos and Lovely Inan (women’s 49kg), Jhodie Peralta (women’s 49kg), Rosalinda Faustino (women’s 45kg), and Christian Rodriguez (men’s 67kg).

Albert Ian de los Santos, meanwhile, is lined up in the men’s 61kg of the youth and junior divisions.
