Celebrity wellness expert Clara Day Herrera has not only written a captivating book, but has also created an extraordinary fat-burn and digestive-reset cleanse program that has become a must-follow regimen for both stars and influential social media personalities. She has recently partnered with Sona Roy from the Shanti Institute of Ayurveda to promote the benefits of Ayurveda and how it can be incorporated into daily nutrition as a natural form of medicine. “Ayurveda recognizes that food is not just fuel, but a form of medicine. It treats the kitchen as a pharmacy where home-cooked meals are prepared to nourish both the body and mind," Clara said as she conducted an Ayurveda Home Cooking Workshop with Mr. Roy at the Makati Garden Club last July 22. Practicing Ayurveda can be very useful to industries like show business, where stress and sleepless nights prevail all around. According to Clara, "following an ayurvedic diet improves digestion and energy levels, promotes better sleep, and reduces stress." The Ayurveda Home Cooking Workshop was Attended by the Ambassador of India Shambhu S. Kumaran, Agri Exim Global Philippines representatives, 22 Holistic Wellness Founder Joana Alberto, DOH Undersecretary Maria Francia Laxamana, Dr. Gibsy Sanjeevi Goerge, DFA ASPAC Director Rona Goce, DFA Assistant Secretary Aileen Mendiola, and natural cuisine enthusiasts who enrolled for the cooking lessons.

Clara and Sona led the cooking demo, with hands-on sessions by the students. Everyone got to enjoy what they cooked. Some of the Ayurvedic dishes that were brought to the table were Chicken Curry with Coconut Milk, Pan-Fried Crispy Fish, Millet Roti, Millet Dosa, Monggo Kitchuri, Carrot Beans Thoran, and Finger Millet Upma. All of the recipes came from natural, healthy ingredients. "‘You are what you digest. Ayurveda recognizes that food is not just fuel, but a form of medicine. By bringing Ayurvedic food heritage into the home, everyday ingredients can be transformed into delicious dishes that balance the body, mind, and consciousness,” Clara explained. “Ayurveda taught me that health care is self-care and that good digestion is the root of good health. The Ayurvedic kitchen pharmacy has become my sanctuary, where I have discovered the immense healing potential of incorporating local, seasonal, and traditional ingredients into my meals,” noted Clara, a former flight attendant who went on a journey of self-transformation and authored the book "How To Never Diet Forever." As a believer in natural food and a holistic diet, Clara reminds fellow Filipinos to be more mindful of the long-term effects of processed food on one's health and well-being.
"There’s no better time to eat clean and live a healthier lifestyle than now," she stated. This first-ever Ayurveda Home Cooking Workshop in the country earned the nod and full support of the Embassy of India in the Philippines.
