Teacher, family hurt in Lucena car crash


LUCENA CITY, Quezon – A 39-year-old teacher and his family were injured when their car crashed into concrete barriers and steel posts of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) on the Diversion Road, Barangay Kanluran Mayao, this city, on Monday, July 3.

Police identified the victims as Erwin Biares and his wife, son, daughter, and nephew.

Investigation said Biares lost control of their Hyundai Eon car at 2:45 a.m. and rammed the concrete barriers and steel posts of the DPWH-Quezon 2nd District Engineering Office on the middle of the road.

They were taken by the Lucena City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (LCDRRMC) to the Quezon Medical Center (QMC) here.

The victims were on their way to Manila from Bicol when the accident happened.
