The poll also showed the public’s approval of Speaker Martin Romualdez, showing significant shifts in sentiment. The Speaker gained “more opposition,” from 15 percent in the previous quarter to 19 percent at present, especially in NCL, and to some extent in the Southern Luzon (SL) and Mindanao (MIN), according to the survey, but he maintained a steady overall approval rating of 42 percent and a trust rating of 32 percent. Meanwhile, Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri maintained a “stable” approval rating of 48 percent in the second quarter, which was similar to the 47 percent rating in the first quarter. Likewise, his trust rating was “unchanged” at 37 percent from the previous quarter’s 38 percent. Moreover, the approval rating for Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo remained steady at 38 percent in the second quarter, staying at the same level as the first quarter’s rating of 39 percent. Furthermore, his trustworthiness rating remained constant at 32 percent. “Overall, the report indicates a relatively stable trust and approval rating for government officials and agencies, reflecting the public’s ongoing commitment to the welfare of the country,” Publicus Asia said. The Pahayag 2023 Second Quarter Survey is an independent and non-commissioned survey conducted by Publicus Asia from June 7 to 12. It is a nationwide purposive survey with 1,500 respondents drawn at random from a market research panel of over 200,000 Filipinos maintained by PureSpectrum, a US-based panel marketplace with a multinational presence with respondents, and distributed across five geographical areas—National Capital Region, North Central Luzon, South Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. Only registered Filipino voters were included in the sample, ensuring that the results accurately reflect the voting population’s sentiments.
