BUTUAN CITY – A magnitude-4.1 earthquake jolted Davao Occidental on Monday afternoon, July 3.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the earthquake was recorded at 2:30 p.m. and its epicenter was 81 kilometers (kms) southeast of Balut Island, Sarangani, Davao Occidental.
The tremor had a depth of 145 kms, Phivolcs said.
No damage or aftershocks are expected from the tectonic earthquake caused by the movement of an active fault in the area.
The Davao Occidental Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) reported no damage or injury from the tremor.
Earlier at 1:46 p.m., a magnitude-3.6 tectonic earthquake hit Davao Oriental.
Its epicenter was 43 kms southeast of Gov. Generoso, Davao Oriental, with a depth of 17 kms.
It was recorded at Intensity I in Magsaysay, Davao del Sur.
The Davao Oriental PDRRMC reported no damage or injury from the earthquake.
