He further emphasized the need for prompt coordination between UP administrative and security officials and the leadership of the Philippine National Police in the investigation and potential pursuit operations. "Higher education institutions must remain as safe spaces for their students. I encourage anyone and everyone who has any information regarding the incident to report to the authorities to aid in the investigation. The University must spare nothing to ensure that justice is obtained for the victim and her family," de Vera added. The "despicable criminal act" also serves as a wake-up call for the premier state university to review and enhance its security and safety policies, the official said.
