In a bid to engage the younger generation in matters of taxation, the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) has kicked off the "Search for the Philippines' Brightest Buwis Masters (PBBM) for 2023."
The competition is open to all college students across the country.
The regional-level contest is already underway, being conducted by 22 BIR regional offices, and will conclude on July 7.
Participants are put to the test through tax-related quizzes and examinations, specifically focused on income, value-added and percentage taxes as well as the taxpayers' registration requirements.
Following the regional rounds, the 22 champions will advance to the national level, known as the championship round.
The grand showdown will take place on July 28 at the BIR national office in Quezon City. Here, the top three winners will be announced and honored.
The grand champion, first runner-up, and second runner-up will each receive plaques of recognition and cash prizes. Additionally, their respective schools will be presented with a trophy to celebrate their success.
BIR Commissioner Romeo D. Lumagui, Jr. expressed his hopes for the competition, stating, "through this competition, we hope to spark the interest of the youth sector in taxation, as they are the future taxpayers of our nation."
For more information about the competition, interested individuals can refer to Revenue Memorandum Circular Nos. 64-2023 and 67-2023, which are available on the official BIR website ([www.bir.gov.ph](http://www.bir.gov.ph/)).
