DepEd Undersecretary Michael Poa, in an interview, said that DepEd has lined up some “concrete steps” as part of its learning recovery efforts, and among these is the launching of the revised basic education curriculum.

“The K to 10 curriculum will be launched in a few weeks,” Poa said. “We will be launching it to show to the public kung ano talaga ang nabago (what were changed),” he added.

However, the implementation of the revised K to 10 curriculum is set for next year, School Year (SY) 2024-2025.

“We need to have the proper learning resources like textbooks, among others, before we roll it out,” Poa explained.

Meanwhile, Poa said that the review for the Senior High School (SHS) is still ongoing. “There’s a national task force for this and they have a timeline,” he explained.

DepEd, Poa said, hoped to finish the SHS curriculum review within a year but there are various factors to be considered.

“I don’t want to give a specific timeline but the national task force is having regular meetings for the review of SHS [curriculum],” he added.

Poa also discussed the launching of the revised K to 10 curriculum by next month during the post-State of the Nation Address (SONA) discussions on July 26.

The review of the K to 10 curriculum was completed first, Poa said.

“But the reviews of the senior high school curriculum or Grades 11 and 12 are underway and we already have a national task force doing that,” he added.
