PNP sends 200 cops to 'Egay'-affected areas, raises P3M for relief assistance

The Philippine National Police (PNP) has deployed at least 200 policemen to assist in the relief operations in the areas heavily devastated by typhoon “Egay”.

At the same time, Police Maj. Gen. Edgar Alan Okubo said they also allocated around P3 million for the purchase of food packs and essential supplies to the affected regions aside from the fund raised by various regional offices to bolster the relief efforts.

Okubo said those deployed were  Search and Rescue (SAR) and Reactionary Standby Support Force (RSSF) personnel and were instructed to coordinate with the local government units and other government agencies for a coordinated disaster relief response.

He added that the personnel involved in the relief operations have been specially trained for emergency response, ensuring that they can efficiently address the needs of the affected residents.

“The send off  for the search and rescue teams are on a noble mission to our fellow Filipinos devasted by typhoon Egay. The PNP share and stand on the journey towards healing and rebuilding. It is not just about delivering essential goods, but a testament to the power of unity and compassion,” said Okubo in his speech during the send-off ceremony at Camp Crame in Quezon City.

“Together we will rebuild one step at a time with the share determination to overcome the adversity that has befallen us. Our presence and assistance will become the seeds of hope that will sprout and flourish, bringing life back to the communities that have been left in the wake of this typhoon Egay,” he added.
