Parañaque LGU receives 'Green Banner Seal of Compliance' from National Nutrition Council
Parañaque City Mayor Eric Olivarez said the city government was awarded the “Green Banner Seal of Compliance” for effective programs on nutrition.
Olivarez was very thankful to the National Nutrition Council (NNC) for giving the city again the highest award for a local government unit (LGU) for effective programs on nutrition.
He said the city first received the Green Banner Seal of Compliance award in 2021 and was again cited for best and effective practices on programs based on the Philippine Action Plan for Nutrition in 2022.
The mayor said, aside from the highest award, the city also received five special and citation awards -- best LGU in the Implementation of Philippine Integrated Management of Severe Acute Malnutrition, Best LGU in the Implementation of the Dietary Supplementation Program, Implementation of Infant and Young Child Feeding Program; Special Citation in the Implementation of Nutrition in Emergencies; and Most Innovative LGU in Nutrition Program Implementation.
The mayor was represented by his wife and City Nutrition Officer Aileen Olivarez during the awarding ceremony held at The Heritage Hotel Manila in Pasay City on July 28.
Mrs. Olivarez was with City Nutrition Services Division head Dr. Mercy Narag-Bunnao, Acting Assistant City Health Officer Dr. Himmler Cos, and nutrition-dietititan Jun Kerbell Reforma during the event.
Olivarez thanked his wife, Aileen and the team of the City Nutrition Services Division for supporting the city government’s programs meant to reduce malnutrition in the city
He said the award will also serve as an inspiration to the city government to continue their advocacy in making every resident healthy by promoting the consumption of nutritious food.
The mayor added that the city government will continue to help residents in need, specially the children and mothers.
Olivarez said the city government will not achieve the highest award without the help and dedication of nutrition workers.
He also congratulated Reforma who was named as first runner-up at the 2022 Regional Search for Outstanding City Nutrition Program Coordinator; and Erla Cortesa, barangay nutrition scholar of Barangay San Antonio, who was a finalist for Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Scholar.
