MCIA accredited by Airports Council International

The country's second largest airport, Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA), became the first and only one in the Philippines to be accredited by the Airports Council International (ACI). "We are drawing closer to our vision of making MCIA one of the Top 10 passenger-centric airports in Asia by 2030," MCIA Authority General Manager and CEO Julius G. Neri Jr. stated Friday, July 28. ACI serves over 700 members, operating 1,950 airports globally and only 20 airports, so far, have achieved ACI's Customer Experience Level 1, while seven airports achieved Level 2 and above. ACI, granted the Airport Customer Experience accreditation to MCIA recognizing the latter's performance in delivering top-notch customer experience management and practices leading to efficient check-ins and security procedures. The ACI accreditation provides a common framework with a multilevel review process to convey the airport’s efforts in improving customer experience. However, “our journey does not end here. Rather, it marks the beginning of where we further elevate our services to ensure that every passenger passing through MCIA feels valued," remarked Neri. "This accolade not only reinforces MCIA's position as a leading regional aviation hub but also underscores its commitment to upholding the highest standards of service and hospitality," he added. In 2021, MCIA also received the Airport Health Accreditation from ACI which recognizes its efforts in ensuring the health and safety of its passengers and airport personnel through the implementation of health and safety industry best practices. MCIA serves over 11 million foreign and local passengers yearly, making it the second busiest airline hub in the country. MCIA is operated by a Filipino-led private consortium between Aboitiz InfraCapital (AIC), GMR Group of India, and Megawide Construction Corporation (MCC), under a concession agreement with the Philippine government.
