Marcos said this as he led the distribution of various government assistance to residents affected by Super Typhoon Egay in Bangued, Abra, on Saturday, July 29.

In his speech, the President said the government is doing its best to restore normalcy to the affected areas as soon as possible.

"Nandiyan at naka-ready na. Yung ibang mga daan, hindi pa madaanan kasi na-landslide yung iba, yung iba may tubig pa. Pagkatapos na mangyari yun ay mapapadala na natin lahat 'yan (We're ready. Some of the roads are not yet passable because of the landslides and the flood. Once we've cleared them, we'll send help immediately)," he said.

"We have prepared at marami na kaming nakahanda (we have prepared a lot)— food packs nga," he added.

According to the President, he thought that the national government and local government units (LGUs) worked well together in responding to the typhoon.

"Mahusay naman ang ating mga disaster response team sa LGU at sa national (We have efficient disaster response teams from the LGUs and the national government)," Marcos said.

"Maganda naman ang ugnayan ng national at tsaka local kaya sa palagay ko, sa lalong madaling panahon, maibabalik na natin lahat ng mga serbisyo na kinakailangan (They have good communication that's why I think we can restore the basic services here immediately)," he added.

Meanwhile, Marcos said the government is also ensuring a clean water supply for the affected areas but admitted having difficulty restoring power due to felled electric posts. He said he would ask other provinces to send linemen to help.

The President also vowed to provide building materials to affected residents to help them rebuild their houses which were damaged due to the typhoon. So far, Marcos said they have yet to determine the amount of damage or the number of homes damaged due to Egay.

In addition, President Marcos said that they were taking care of those who were in evacuation centers and that they were also looking for those who chose to seek shelter elsewhere to help them.

"Yung mga wala sa bahay na kung saan-saan pumunta ay hinahanap din namin para bigyan ng tulong dahil nga na-displace sila (Those who left their homes and went elsewhere, we're also looking for them so we can provide help since they were also displaced)," he said.

Marcos also said they are eyeing sending communication satellites to far-flung areas so they could report to the national government and request whatever they need.

According to Malacañang, the extensive flooding and damage to agriculture and infrastructure prompted the Provincial Government of Abra to place the province in the State of Calamity.

Around 46,000 families or over 180,000 individuals were affected by the super typhoon in Abra alone.

Among the assistance given during the ceremony are food packs and P10,000 cash assistance from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD); agricultural assistance to farmers from the Department of Agriculture (DA); and cash assistance from the Office of the President (OP) to LGUs under the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR).

Since the onset of Super Typhoon Egay, Marcos ordered a whole-of-nation approach to deal with its aftermath and directed all concerned government agencies to ensure the rehabilitation of those affected by the super typhoon.
