Cash, food packs dispensed to 'Egay'-affected families in Northern Luzon
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) disbursed cash assistance and family food packs to families in northern Luzon who were distraught by typhoon Egay.

On Saturday, July 29, an estimated 1,000 families from Ilocos Norte received monetary assistance from DSWD Field Office (FO) 1 through the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation program. Five hundred beneficiaries were from Bacarra, 200 from Sarrat, 150 from Piddig, 98 from San Nicolas, 30 from Laoag, and 22 from Badoc. Meanwhile, 2,000 family food packs were dispatched by DSWD FO 2 to Calayan Island via sea vessel.

According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, more than 582,288 people have so far been affected by the typhoon. This includes 21,812 displaced people, 11,043 evacuees, 6,623 resettling outside evacuation centers, 20 missing, 14 dead, and 13 injured. Meanwhile, about P1,191,137,926.36 worth of infrastructure damage was recorded in Regions 1, 2, 5, 6, 11, 12, MIMAROPA, and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao. The agriculture department also reported P833.88 million worth of damages, with over 76,093 farmers and fishermen affected.
