Body of slain NPA leader turned over to family

ILIGAN CITY – The Army 58th Infantry (Dimalulupig) Battalion led by Lt. Col. Christian C. Uy turned over the body of slain New People’s Army leader Dionisio Micabalo, alias “Muling,” to his family on Friday, July 28. Micabalo’s remains were extricated on Thursday, July 27, from the encounter site with the help of the city government of Gingoog. It was taken to the Saint Peter Funeral Homes for proper disposition. Micabalo was killed in a gun battle with the 58th IB on Wednesday, July 26, in the hinterlands of Barangay Libertad, Gingoog. Uy, who was accompanied by city officials and Gingoog police, met Micabalo’s family to express condolences and provide the necessary support. He said that the Philippine Army is guided by its dedication to humanitarian principles and respect for the dignity of all individuals, regardless of their affiliations. Micabalo’s family thanked the city government and the military for providing burial assistance for him.
