4.5-magnitude quake jolts Surigao Del Norte


A magnitude 4.5 earthquake jolted Surigao Del Norte on Saturday, July 29, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

In its second earthquake information bulletin, Phivolcs reported a slight increase in the quake from magnitude 4.4 from its previous report. 

Phivolcs stated that the quake was tracked five kilometers (km) northwest of Alegria, Surigao Del Norte, at 12:49 a.m.

It also noted that the tectonic-origin quake has a three-km depth of focus.

The tremor was slightly felt (Intensity II) in the Alegria and Mainit, Surigao Del Norte; Kitcharao, Agusan Del Norte.

Meanwhile, the tremor felt Intensity I (Scarcely Perceptible) at Jabonga, Agusan del Norte.

Intensity II is also recorded in Surigao City, Surigao del Norte. 

Phivolcs said that there are no damages and aftershocks to expect due to this tremor. (Sonny Daanoy)
