P149.2-M marijuana, shabu seized in Cordillera


CAMP DANGWA, Benguet – Suspected shabu and marijuana worth a total of P149.2 million were destroyed and 10 drug personalities were arrested in anti-illegal drugs operations in the Cordillera from July 16 to 23.

Police Brig. Gen. David Peredo Jr., Police Regional Office-Cordillera chief, said these were discovered during an eight-day operation line with “Oplan: Herodotus 3.”

Peredo said 29 marijuana eradication operations were conducted by joint operatives of the PRO-Cordillera, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Cordillera, and Philippine Drug Enforcement Group (PDEG).

He said 693,615 fully grown marijuana plants, 35,560 marijuana seedlings, and 75,000 grams of dry leaves and stems of marijuana were seized in Kalinga and Benguet.

On the other hand, 10 drug personalities were arrested and 10.69 grams of shabu with an overall Standard Drug Price of P72,692 were seized in Baguio City and the provinces of Benguet and Abra.

Suspects were identified as Reynato Soriano, 23; Hercules Verzola, 24; Froilan Ringor, 31; Billie Quinto, 31; Wilmer Lizardo, 33; Willyn Sendico, 28; Jaysie Liked, 32; Herceb Cadicoy, 44;  Ritchie delos Reyes, and a 17-year-old minor.

Peredo commended operating units for conducting successful anti-illegal drugs operations.

As a result, there has been a significant reduction in the number of FGMPJP and dried marijuana compared to previous years.

"We will not put our guard down especially in this war, hand-in-hand, we will eliminate the drug menace in our region," Peredo said.
