Marikina LGU sets up banchetto, trade fair for 'Palarong Pambansa'
The Marikina City local government opened on Wednesday, July 26, the ‘“Palarong Pambansa Banchetto and Trade Fair” where sports delegations from across the country and other visitors can get a taste of the city’s local food and support its local businesses.
As the host of this year’s national games, the city government is utilizing the opportunities afforded by the expected 20,000 visitors who will be flocking to the city to discover its trademark food and products.

Around 200 food and non-food stalls were installed along Jacamar Street, City Hall Road at the Marikina Freedom Park, which is a walking distance from the Marikina Sports Center (MSC), the main venue of the games.
It is open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. everyday until Aug. 7.

Among the stores showcasing their products is Rocha’s, a famous local shop selling Filipino delicacies like puto and kutsinta, Ador’s Bakeshop, the Tukadon Biker’s Cafe, Silog Happiness and Pan De Americana. There are also stalls that are selling potato snacks, Korean corndogs and hotdogs, varieties of milk and fruit teas, coffee among other comfort food, as well as meals like tapsilog, liempo, shawarma, kebabs, and rice-in-a-box.

The Trade Fair also features local shops like Debbie’s Native Products and Trading that sells native woven bags, hats, baskets, and wallets. Art shops that sell stickers and other crafts can also be viewed at the fair. Merchandise stalls for Palaro 2023 t-shirts are also included. Aside from food, street performances or buskers, solo singers, and live band performances will also be performing at the banchetto to entertain customers. Marikina City Mayor Marcelino “Marcy” Teodoro, District 1 Rep. Marjorie Ann “Maan” Teodoro, Vice Mayor Marion Andres, City Council members, and Banchetto Committee Co-Chairperson Ma. Rosanna Santos graced the ribbon-cutting and blessing ceremony. Former Marikina Mayor Del de Guzman also attended the event, along with members of the food and restaurant associations, and other businesses in the city. Last July 17, [a shoe bazaar](https://mb.com.ph/2023/7/17/marikina-shoe-bazaar-opens-for-back-to-school-palarong-pambansa-season) was opened on the first floor of the multi-level parking building in Barangay Sta. Elena, near the Marikina City Hall. Customers can buy the city’s signature shoewear items and leather goods at the bazaar until August 27.
