Man wanted for rape in Parañaque arrested in Pasay City

A software developer wanted for rape in Parañaque was arrested by members of the Pasay police Warrant and Subpoena Section (WSS) on Thursday, July 27.   According to Southern Police District (SWPD) Director Brig. Gen. Roderick Mariano,  Col. Froilan Uy, Pasay police chief, reported the arrest of  the suspect identified as Jonathan Lauyan Areniego, 54.   Uy said the suspect was arrested at around 4:30 p.m. along Apelo Cruz St., Barangay 157, Malibay, Pasay City by members of the WSS in coordination with the Malibay substation.   Members of the WSS conducted a manhunt operation leading to the arrest of Areniego who was tagged as the third most wanted person under the district level.   Uy said Areniego was arrested by virtue of a warrant of arrest issued by Judge Leilani Marie Dacanay, of Parañaque Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 296 on June 5, 2023. No bail was recommended.   The police said the suspect was detained at Pasay policed custodial facility after his arrest.
