ILOILO CITY – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has distributed aid worth an estimated P2.53 million to victims of the monsoon rains and flood triggered by typhoon “Egay” in Western Visayas.
THE Quick Response Team (QRT) packs rice for food packs at the DSWD-6 warehouse in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental. (DSWD-6) DSWD-6 Director Carmelo Nochete said P2.49 million was released for food packs as of July 27 for 110,629 persons from 25,580 families in five provinces. The DSWD-6 Quick Response Team (QRT) under the Disaster Response Management Division released non-food items totaling P41,500. The most affected by flooding was Negros Occidental province, including its capital Bacolod City. Flooding was reported in the provinces of Aklan, Antique, Guimaras, and Iloilo as well as the regional capital of Iloilo City. The DSWD-6 said that various LGUs also released P689,308 in relief assistance. The DSWD-6 and the LGUs have released relief assistance worth P3.22 million as of July 27.
