AHCI hosts 'Asian Cares: Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao' benefit fashion show at The Manila Hotel

Showcasing fashion culture and the Filipino ingenuity and creativity


Asian Hospital Charities Inc., (AHCI) is a nonprofit organization which serves as the official Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) arm of the Asian Hospital and Medical Center. It aims to provide the underprivileged with access to medical services, through the funding of therapeutic interventions and hospitalization. It has also forged partnerships with different local community organizations to promote health education.

In 2022, AHCI provided Asian Hospital quality health care to more than 1,000 patients. Notable projects included Free Cervical Cancer Screening for Women, Free Cataract Operations, Medical treatments for the patients of the Bayanihan Outpatient Health Services, Barangay Telemedicine, and Cancer Medical Assistance Program for children.

To help sustain the programs, a benefit fashion show entitled “Asian Cares: Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao” was held on July 16, 2023, at the Fiesta Pavilion of The Manila Hotel. The show showcased our local fashion culture and highlighted the Filipino ingenuity and creativity through the use of indigenous textiles.

Three noted designers were featured from different region of the Philippines. Ronaldo Arnaldo for Luzon, Frankie De Leon for Visayas, and Petra Lim for Mindanao. The show was directed by none other than Raymond Villanueva.

On top of the fashion show, exhibits were set-up outside the ballroom. The Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Textile Research Institute (DOST-PTRI) staged an exhibit of their latest innovation and technology developed for the textile industry. Indigenous fabrics made from all over the country were also displayed. Several mannequins showed ensembles using these fabrics.

An art exhibit by a group of artists from Cebu called TNAG (Toledo Neo Artist Group) displayed paintings in oil and acrylic. Part of the sales proceeds will also be donated to the Asian Hospital Charities, Inc.

Prominent guests and awardees during the program were Dr. Jorge Garcia, Spark Award, as founder of Asian Charities, for his pioneering spirit in promoting advocacy work in Asian Hospital; Atty. Arthur Tugade, Asian Cares Awardee for community service with his ability to navigate complex challenges, mobilize resources and inspire positive change. The event was also attended by Asian Hospital and Medical Center President and Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Beaver Tamesis.

Performers included OPM artist Top Suzara, Raine Cancio, and hosts Johann Enriquez and Shaleen Lee.
